Our planet can be seen as a ‘system’ of interacting parts or ‘spheres’: the hydrosphere, biosphere, atmosphere and geosphere (or lithosphere). Although we will study each of these spheres independently, they are continuously interacting.
The website http://www.cotf.edu/ete/ESS/ESSmain.html shows for example how a particular event, forest fires at Yellowstone in 1988, influenced the various spheres and also examples of interactions between spheres.
Question 1:
Consider (& research) a recent event: the Fukushima, Japan, earthquake and radiation spill from nuclear reactor in 2011. Make a list of resulting event <----> sphere interactions and sphere <----> sphere interactions.
