Answer 3. An element can differentiated from another element with the help of its physical and chemical properties.
Physical properties examples;
1.Sodium and potassium can be differentiated from other elements as both these elements are so soft that they can even be cut with a knife.
2. Mercury is a silvery liquid at room temperature, while Bromine is a brownish gas.
3. Copper burns with a greenish-blue flame while barium gives a pale green flame.
These are only a few of the tests, whereas an element can also be differentiated from another with the help of its lustre, ductility, malleability, strength and other physical properties.
Similarly differentiation on chemical properties;
1. For example, most of the noble gases/elements are unreactive to most of the chemicals, while other elements react.
2. Potassium and sodium react violently with water, while elements like platinum hardly react with water.
3. Some heavier elements like Uranium and Irridium which are radioactive in nature, are a source of alpha beta gamma rays, while elements like Carbon are highly stable, like diamond.
