Explanation / Answer

1. How can preschool curricula, based on solid research, build school- and life-related skills?

ANS - Preprimary curriculum can be defined as: The content and organization of the preschool program, including all daily activities, transitions, and routines which have an impact on the child's physical, social, emotional, intellectual and language development. When it comes to the reading curriculum, preschoolers learn, understand and use a wide variety of new words. They learn to read and write and can identify sounds. The math curriculum for preschool includes teaching the little ones to count, measure, identify and create patterns, use number and word symbols, and more. Probably the most fun of all subjects is the art and craft curriculum for preschoolers. Children get a hang of expressing themselves through art, and drawing and coloring activities strengthen their motor development. The diversity and range of topics that preschoolers are introduced to is impressive. Young children enter preschool with a sense of wonder and a love of learning. They have an insatiable appetite for knowledge when they have learning experiences that are engaging and enjoyable. Positive experiences in which children can make choices and explore help them feel competent and confident.

2. Why are well-qualified teachers important?

ANS - Being able to identify strengths and weaknesses, and being able to understand that children learn differently and how to create a learning environment that supports the whole child. Well qualified and well paid early childhood educations teachers are important in a preschool setting. Qualified teachers offer a warm and responsive relationship that allows children to reach their true potential. A qualified teacher knows how to stimulate the children’s learning in their classroom. A qualified teacher knows that they can fine tune their teaching through ongoing assessments and are able to identify windows of opportunity to increase effective learning for each student in their classroom. These teachers also hone their own skills to improve themselves. A well-qualified teacher will be able to assess a child and will be able to create a lesson plan that includes a strategy and outcome for the next level of learning.

3. How is play integrated into learning?

ANS - Play is an experience where the teacher can tap into a child's little world and watch how the see life from their view. Play is integrated into every piece of learning. Young children learn best through play so this is an important concept. Teaching and learning can occur in any situation. Learning through play can occur in many ways; from early math through sorting blocks, early reading through letter recognition and many more activities. This helps us understand the needs of preschoolers and the things that teachers need to focus on to provide these preschool children with the best experience possible. With preschoolers, much of the guesswork about their needs and interests is replaced by the need to provide a wider variety of experiences and materials that (a) challenge them to refine their physical skills, (b) help them begin to form friendships and navigate social relationships and conflicts, (c) explore their theories about how things work, (d) foster emergent literacy, and (e) develop a love of learning. Similarly, sharing and conflict resolution is discovered and they are able to explore the world around them and how things move, stack, shake, make noise etc.
