Question

Name the air pressure (areas A – D) and wind belts (represented as latitude ranges) that correspond to the locations noted on a world map. Use your text and  search "global wind patterns" to see maps with names. You are looking for a map with the latitude numbers and the Pressure and Wind belts such as Polar High, trade Winds, Prevailing Westerlies etc.

Pressure Belts:

A (90o): ______________________________________________________________________

B (60o): _______________________________________________________________________

C(30o): _______________________________________________________________________

D(0o): _______________________________________________________________________

Wind Belts:

60o – 90o N & S _________________________________________________________

30o – 60o N & S:_________________________________________________________

World Continents A 90° N B 60° N C 30° N D 0° C 309 S B 60° S A 90° S

Explanation / Answer

Our planet earth is surrounded by atmosphere which have different types of layers around the earth. from the poles side to the equater its have variation in the wind patterns as well as the pressure magitude. we can take the measurement of this at every degree of inclination of the earth such as 90,60,30 and 0 degrees.

So first of all we have to give the name of pressure belt around the earth different atmospheric layers. these are as follow-

pressure belt-

A(90)- polar high pressure belt

B(60)- sub polar low pressure belt

C(30)- sub tropical high pressure belt

D(0)- equatorial low pressure belt

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

now we have to give the name of wind belt so these are as follow-

north and south wind belts-

60-90 (N&S)= polar easterlies

30-60 (N&S)= prevailing westerlies

0-30 = northeast trade wind (N) & southeast trade wind (S)
