Question

1- Stir a single teaspoon of salt into a clear water glass with tepid tapwater into that mildly salty water pour a tablespoon or two of salt saturated tepid tapwater with a dye in it. (several tablespoons of salt stirred in with dye added). Where does the highly saturated dyed salt water go??

2- Now prepare another water glass with a single teaspoon of salt dissolved. Into the second glass introduce a tablespoon of tepid tapwater with a dye. Where does the fresh dyed water go?

(Geology, Oceanography)

Explanation / Answer

answer - since the salt water has the high density than the freshwater, the salt water will sink to the bottom of the glass while the fresh water will float on the upper parts of glass.

Thr same is true in the second case also, the fresh water will float on top while the salty water will sink to the bottom
