The relative humidity is the ratio of the amount of moisture in the air to the amount of maximum moisture it can hold at that particular temperature. The warm air can hold more moisture than the cold air. The maximum amount of moisture the air can hold is the saturation humidity and the actual amount of moisture in the air is known as absolute humidity. The relative humidity is expressed in percentage.

Relative humidity=absolute humidity /saturation value*100

or relative humidity=vapour pressure/saturation vapour pressure *100
