Question

To the best of your ability, observe the native flora and fauna and attempt to fathom what adaptations and evolutionary steps were made by that species so that it might easier live in this environment. (Hint: The obvious is the easiest to ‘see’ and most often accurate.) In addition to merely noting the adaptation(s), theorize why they would be useful or necessary. You need to do this with a minimum of eight – (8) organisms. Plants are perfectly valid. You should be able to note and record at least three – (3) different adaptations to the environment for each species noted. Exact common names are not necessary, though that information would be convenient.

Explanation / Answer

first of all it is important to understand the meaning of the flora and fauna. before knowing other things and fact , first we have to focus over this. so we are defining the term flora as well as fauna.

Flora-

It can be defined as it is the plant life occurring in a particular region or time, generally the naturally occurring or indigenous—native plant life. The corresponding term for animal life is fauna. flora, fauna and other forms of life such as fungi are collectively referred to as biota. e.g- rose plant of native region.

Fauna-

Fauna is all of the animal life of any particular region or time.the study and use of fauna is to refer to a typical collection of animals found in a specific time or place. e.g- monkey, tortoise etc.

now we will discuss about the adaptation made by the flora to sustain in a perticular type of environment as follow-

1) flora of desert- they have waxy covering. they have the spines for their leaves. the roots are too deep for getting the water in such desserted area. they are fast growing seeds and have the large availability to store water for long time periods.

2) rainforest adaptations- they have smooth slippery barks which keeps vines from the killing of the tree. slide shaped leaves so water get run off and restrict the growth of fungus in them.

3) tundra adaptations- small planets which needs warmth are grows close to ground. to get high heat from sun, they posses dark coloured vegetation in them. they have fuzzy stems which provide protection to them from wind.

4) grassland adaptations- they have deep roots which help the plants to survive easily. they have narrow leaves which will create less loss of water from the planets.the stems of such vegetations are flexible.

5) flora of mountains- these plants have small and tough leaves so that they will not get damaged from snow. they have tough cover seeds so that could stay alive in cold weather. roots are very much deep so that they could withstand the wind thrust in high mountain region. the shapes are traingular so that snow can easily fall off from the tree.

6) adaptations of oceanic flora- they are assemble in such a way that they can float easily to the sunshine area to do the photosynthesis.they produce air pocket in their leaves so that they can get the supply of direct oxygens.

7) adaptations of terrestarial plants- these region also posses a heavy rainfall annually so they are greenish type forest for large period of time in a perticular season so they are also known as evergreen forest.

8) temperate forest adaptations- they have the thick barks. they are the plants which drop off their leaves in winter to conserve the water and nutrients in cold winter.

native 8 flora adaptation are as follows( see these from the above listed adaptations)-

cactus- see it from the adaptation of desert flora.

venus flytrap- see it from the adaptations of terresterial flora.

phytoplankstone- see it from adaptation of oceanic flora.

tall trees like deodar sal and teak- see it from the mountain adaptations.

green grass fo large size- see it from the grassland adaptations.

banayan tree- see it fromt the temperate flora adaptations.

aloe vera- see it from the rainforest flora adaptations.

cotton grass- see it from tundra flora adaptation.
