Question
The mindset of the economic developer and entrepreneur are different but related.
The economic developer would start asking questions.
-Where is the nearest fishing-hole?
-How can we ensure there is a place to fish?
-How do we make sure there are enough fish to catch?
-Who will make sure the fish population remains healthy and growing?
-Who will own the fishing-hole?
-Will it be private, public, or a public-private partnership?
-Will all citizens have access to the fishing-hole?
-Should we consider saltwater or freshwater options?
-Do we need to build a new fishing-hole or expand the current location?
-Do we need to recruit a fishing-hole company to relocate to the area?
-Will we offer fishing classes to teach the population how to fish?
The entrepreneur would take a different view and ask a variety of other questions.
-Will people need fishing tackle and bait?
-Can I offer fishing classes?
-Will people need a boat?
-Can I build a fishing-hole and charge people to fish?
-Can I offer to fish for busy people?
-Can I offer to guide people to the best parts of the fishing-hole?
-Can I catch fish and sell them in the local market?
-Can I offer my expertise as a fish biologist to ensure a healthy and growing fish population?
-Can I take people on fishing trips to distant fishing-holes?
-Can I store fishing gear for people who don’t have room?
-I think you get the point here also.
The economic developer looks at the situation from a big-picture viewpoint while the entrepreneur looks at the same situation for business opportunities. The two are related, but different. What questions would you ask as an Economic Developer?
Explanation / Answer
It is right to said that the economic developer looks at the situation from a big picture viewpoint while the enterpreneur looks at the same situation for business opportunities. Because economic developer is the man who act as a person who provides the information and resources needed by the entrepreneur( entrepreneur is the person who takes challenges or initatives to creates something new as a products or a company. He takes risks in order to make profits.) :
So we can said that both are related but also they both have some differences. I ask some important questions as an economic developer
