Question

Revise the following paragraph from a job application letter by substituting specific, concrete language for general or abstract words and phrases.

I have had several part-time jobs lately. Some of them would qualify me for the position you advertised. In my most recent job, I sold products in a store. My supervisor said I was a good worker who had a number of valuable qualities. I am used to dealing with different types of people in different settings. I feel that my qualifications would make me a good candidate for your job opening.

Explanation / Answer

Good morning sir/madam,

First of all I would like to thank you for giving me an opportunity to introduce my self to you.

My self Adam(imagine) and I am from Missouri(imagine). To be honest I am little nervous because this interview is very important to me as I have always admired about a sales manager position in your company because of its reputation and I do feel that my role in your company would be definitely a new challenge to bring out the best of me. I do have three years experience and especially I've spent the last two years developing my skills as a sales and customer service manager in my earlier company where I've won top performance awards consecutively for 2 years and promoted once. I know how to sell products by detailing about it and also include the customer service component. I am constantly motivated by the challenge of the sale. In my earlier company I've always exceeded monthly sales goal and I've increased the annual sale by 25% in the previous year. I love managing teams and solving customer problems of course customer satisfaction is the most important thing in this field. So I think I can fit in beautifully and be a great addition for the company and deliver exceptional results.
