question 12

15% ga- Wed 10:42 PM shsu.blackboard.com htt 14. Which lake in Figure 4 likely has greatest water clarity? Temperature 15. Which lake in Figure 4 likely has the greatest volume of Lake A oxygenated water? 16. Which lake in Figure 5 has an anoxic hypolimneon? Lake B 17. Which lake in Figure 5 likely has the deepest photic zone? 18. Which lake in Figure 5 likely become more unproductive Figure 4 overtime? Phosphorus (mg/l) 19. In pelagic food webs, what do zooplankton eat? Lake A 20. In pelagic food webs what do larval fish or small fish eat?

Explanation / Answer

Q14. Lake B will be more clear than lake A. The depth of high temperature layer is greater than lake A that is because the light penetrates to more depth due to clearer water. Due to this the larger depth has warm water.

Q15. The lake B will have more Dissolved oxygen as compared to lake A, as the dissolved oxygen content in water greatly depends on the water temperature (warm water has higher dissolved oxygen than cold water) and lake B have higher volume of high temperature water so it will contain more DO than lake A. Though cold water can hold more dissolved oxygen the lower layer of cold water becomes oxygen depleted due to less circulation.
