IPad’s design patent by Apple will help the company to successfully differentiate iPad from other products. Thus, it will help iPad to gain bigger market share without letting others to copycat the iPad design. Besides, exclusivity maintained by iPad gives it an edge to put in premium pricing to attract those customers who view iPad as a unique product.
B.
Patent in the given case encourages innovation as competitors proactively work on their own products to achieve sustainability. It has let them to come up with their own designs, features and capabilities to attract customers. Though, it has increased their R&D budget.
C.
Design of a particular product should go for the patent as it is the most innovative and never seen before approach adopted by the engineers to achieve something unique. Also, patent of doing such tangible outcomes, prevent others to steal and use it in their products.
Though, it is not equally applied in business practices as it is only a mean to improve the efficiency of operations rather the improving the quality of the product. Also, same business practices can be applied
