After reviewing and analyzing “A Report to the President Pursuant to the President's Directive of January 31, 1950.” from the NSC 68: United States Objectives and Programs for National Security, explain why you think the United States entered into the Cold War. Do you think the Soviet Union was a legitimate threat to the political, social, and economic well-being of the United States? How do the Objectives and Programs for National Security during the Cold War relate to today’s National Security and concerns?

Why cold war?

In general terms, to same strengths try to be competitive over each other and tries to take upper hand.

USA and USSR has same political strengths and economically they both use different systems but strong enough to invest on their countries welfare and more importantly war fare , bombs make both nations equals .

But why America entered into COLD war? is because , there is a threat by the USSR to all the non-atomic bomb nations especially to Europe so only NATO and some other organizations has formed. It is also a threat to Asian countries as well.

Because, if a country is good with external affairs and trade then the people of the country will flourish but in terms of USSR it lost it communicative grip over many nations in recent 40 years of time .so there will always be some gap over this context between these nations. Don’t you agree?

Why America is carrying this attitude towards USSR is because of the following sole purpose ( taken from preamble)

to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity." In essence, the fundamental purpose is to assure the integrity and vitality of our free society, which is founded upon the dignity and worth of the individual.
