Health as a fundamental nursing concept involves both mental and physiological well-being, and it changes over a patient's lifetime. Nurses work in health care to promote and protect health by instructing patients about self-care, and about how lifestyle and behavior affects their health.
Significance of nursing Concept:
A process is a series of steps or acts that lead to accomplishment of some goal or purpose. The purpose of the nursing process is to provide care for clients that is individualized, holistic, effective, and efficient. The steps of the nursing process build upon each other, but they are not linear. There is overlap of each step with the previous and subsequent steps.

**Concept analysis is conducted before the development of a particular concept because the research begins with critical analysis of literature and will continue with the study of how the concept is manifested in practice.

Walker and Avant developed an eight-stage process to define the basic elements of a concept to produce a consistent operational definition so that a concept has validity in the practice of nursing. The eight stages of this process are as follows:
**The type of concept analysis performed in nursing is not a way to ‘construct’ theory. Rather, theories are formed by creative endeavor to propose a solution to a scientific and/or practical problem.
