In 2007 and 2008, various consumer products were recalled for safety issues due to lack of funding to the FDA. As in November, an FDA advisory panel released; the FDA Science and Mission at Risk report. In this report, it was explained that the FDA had "experienced decreasing resources in the face of increasing responsibilities" and needed additional resources in the future to ensure food and drug safety. The safety of the imported food products could not be maintained especially.
