The CNL impact on genomics in the workplace is greatest with having a sound knowledge base, cultural awareness and sensitivity, understanding of genomics and advocate for the patient by promoting health literacy for them and their families on what it means and how it impacts their care. As a CNL, I can integrate this knowledge of genomics by staying current with research to help resolve clinical issues and optimize the health of the patients, obtaining the support of my nursing leadership, present it at unit staff meetings to create a forum for sharing of information and ideas about genomics, and lead projects initiatives to help improve awareness and education at the organizational level.

The implications of genomics science for healthcare and nursing practice now a days are highly progressed & focused. The nurse managers care about advances in genomics in healthcare. The impact of genomic information and technology has the potential to improve healthcare outcomes, quality, and safety, and result in cost savings. These outcomes are directly dependent on optimizing the use of information technology in the healthcare system.
The study of Genomics with it complex new ethical, legal, social, and economic implications, as well as concerns about risks and hazards became essential for healthcare professionals.
Individual genetic makeup and variation give the risk of disease, including in the prenatal, newborn, childhood, and adult contexts which can be used as a screening tool to improve medication selection, including therapies that may be designed to target the underlying disease genomics; and inform management of symptoms.
This knowledge is so critical and important that the American Nurses Association added this concept in their regular system. Hence CNL should emphasize on genomics in his/her workplace delivering their cultural awareness and sensitivity, understanding of genomics and may promote to the patient by encouraging them to gain health literacy for them and their families.
Further he/she can present it in unit staff meetings to create a discussion for sharing of information and ideas about genomics.
At the same time he/she can guide projects initiatives to help improve awareness and education at the organizational level boosting the quality of nursing services offered by his/her team, in a very effective manner.
