Concept associated with the research and approach associated with it:
The research aims to predict the expression of genes in pregnant women who are smoking during the period of pregnancy with the non-smoker pregnant women. Sample size consist of 25 smokers women pregnant and 25 women who are non-smoker. On the basis previous work and research various data's are available that predict the association of smoking during pregnancy. Our aim is solely to study the genes which are affected by this practise, that is the genes whose expression pattern are affected by smoking.
In our study we predicted the set of genes that is associated with lung and nervous system functioning , smoking does plays a role in elevation in cancer genes and some genetic defects. Bioinformatics and statistical method were used for analysing these data's which are freely available on database.Our further imterest is understand the pathway that are affected by these genes and develop a network of genes which are affected by smoking.
Other factors which are associated with these genes expression are age, medical history, etc.These data's will help in future treatment and personalised therapy can be designed specific for these genes.
