As a new member of the leadership team of Coppin State University Hospital, what would you do during your first 90 days to assess the organization in order to be a successful leader in service of others? What functional and administrative materials, people, departments, systems and/or vendors would you assess as part of your initial assessment of Coppin State University Hospital in order for you to be the most successful leader in the organization?

Prepare an APA format paper (2-3 pages) outlining your assessment PLAN to include all steps and activities you would engage in to properly and adequately assess your organization as the new HIM Director. Explanation / Answer

The first thing I will organise a welcome session where I will introduce myself to the team members and every employee so that they feel comfortable with me and I will also get to know little about them and different departments. In terms of assesing I will first observe how the system was working till now and then will figure out where is improvement required and were it requires more attention. Political framework that I will look for first get accepted by team members and then apply improvement strategy for improvement. The land miles will be evaluated by focusing on the quality of service staffs are maintaining and daily work load for hospital, these factors accuracy will give area of improvement. Team heads, manager and human resource departments will have significant information about staffs and service. The first thing about staff is to organising a training program for them so that they can regularly will able to update their skills. Mostly making comfortable working environment for staff so that they can come and discuss their problems and issue will help to mingle with people. Communication will play a significant in maintaining good relationship with seniors as well as juniors. Keeping everyone in loop will enhance team work of staff members. Best way to communicate will email, chats etc. Administrators departments, lab members, committee members, human resource departments, doctors etc plays a significant role in achieving all the task related to establishment of well formed organisation.
