The HIM Director has many responsibilities. He has to watch and manage the whole health department. He manages the in-and-outs of supplies and medicines in hospital. He maintains all the sub-departments such as nurses, pharmacy, patient, emergency, safety , etc. He ensures if rules and basic guidelines are getting implemented. He handles system and monitor,evaluate and improve management. He reports and educates HIPAA Privacy rules with the hospital employees. He is the representative as Privacy Officer and responds to HIPAA reports. He implements HIM rule implementation and various enhancement programs. He evaluates and monitors routine performance either be weekly or monthly as requested by admininistrative heads. He reports to HIM compliance officer. He ensures the policies, guidelines and if any changes or modifications is affecting the system adversely. He is in charge of development of plans to improve performance of hospital. He serves as subject expert and give advices to staff. He coaches and counsel employees to identify and meet the learning needs for staff. He directs and organizes HIM department activities as per the policies and guidelines , medical laws and regulations. He submits the budgets monthly and annual of operations and various activities of the departments and maintains the accountablility. He handles staff management in various fields and decision making. He monitors improvement in process of whole departments.
