Hello, I need some help answering this question. The answers you are suppose to get are given. Thanks!
A curve of radius 139 m is banked at an angle of 90 An 864-kg car negotiates the curve at 93 km/h without skidding. Neglect the effects of air drag and rolling friction. Find the following. (a) the normal force exerted by the pavement on the tires 9.02 kN (b) the frictional force exerted by the pavement on the tires 2.77 kN (c) the minimum coefficient of static friction between the pavement and the tires 5O.307 Draw a free-body diagram showing the three forces acting on the car. (A head-on view of the car may be the most useful perspective.) Both the normal force and the static friction force have components which contribute to the centripetal force in the situation described in this problem. Apply Newton?s second law to relate the static friction and normal forces, and then solve these equations simultaneously to determine each of these quantities.Explanation / Answer
Normal force = mgcos? = =864*9.8*cos9 = 8363 N
firction = 0.1584*8363 = 1324.6992 N
static friction = tan 9 = 0.1584
