Explanation / Answer

The incident that I wish to take is a delivery that took place at my work place...
I was assigned to deliver a healthy female aged 36yrs with second gestation. She is a mother of a healthy 3 Year old girl who was delivered by caesarean section 3 years ago. At present the mother is 38+ weeks pregnant with mild to moderate labour pain admitted to the labour room. And I am in charge of the patient in the perinatal period. Monitoring the contractions, dilatation and thereby the NST OF THE foetus.
The patient is up to be prepared for emergency c-section but there was this good progression of her labour pain that made us the maternity professionals and her OBG to be confused about the situation.
The thought at that time in our mind was, will the mother deliver the baby safely without any complications for both the lives. And hope it would be delivered safe normally with good progress in labour.
The mother with gradually progressing labour pain healthy and with good FH I wish the mother to deliver normally. But I was asked to prepare the patient for c-section which was a planned procedure in which the mother would deliver in her 39th week. The labour pain was unfortunate happening that made things complicate all of a sudden.
The mother was all set and ready for c-section but the labour pain progressed to severe and the dilatation was about 8cms and thereby the OBG ordered to deliver the baby normally. Even though the delivery process in complicated we took a risk in delivering the baby safely .
All set for normal labour the crowning occurred and a wide episiotomy was put with the labour progressing the mother was made to push the 4kilo female baby out with gushing fluid all over our face to toe. But the real success was to deliver the baby safe with the mother. And we did it.
Nothing in this process would change. Everything went perfect. Except the panic that went around between the switch from c-section to normal labour.
