Two long parallel wires, each carrying a current of I = 3.3 A in the same direction, are shown below, where d = 5.6 cm. Find the direction and magnitude of the net magnetic field at points A,B, and C. Two long parallel wires, each carrying a current of I = 2.5 A in the same direction, are shown below, where d = 6.8 cm. Find the direction and magnitude of the net magnetic field at points A, B, and C.Explanation / Answer
(1) at A .... B = (Uo*I / 2*pi*d) + (Uo*I / 2*pi*3d) = 4/3(Uo*I / 2*pi*d) = 2/3(Uo*I / pi*d) = 2/3(4*10^-7 * I / d ) = 9.8*10^-6 Tesla Direction: upward
(2) at B .... B = 0 Tesla no direction or you can say any arbitrary direction
(3) at C .... B = just like a the only difference is now here B is directed downwards magnitude = 9.8*10^-6 Tesla
