Explanation / Answer

The video talks about the fact that Mr Trump tends to talk in very simple yet effective words. This is mostly because whatever he speaks is less complicated and easily relatable for most people due to its non-ambiguity. It is said that he speaks at a 4th grade reading level and his narration is rather slow, which further makes his speech more clear. On the other hand, some more powerful speakers speak in the exact opposite way of Trump and yet manage to create an impact. Which style of speaking is more effective and persuasive is therefore the next question to ponder upon. Cognitive fluency bias is something that tends to work for Trump. This simply means that since the words and sentences used by the president are highly relatable and easy to comprehend, they appeal more to the masses. No one really needs to be an avid reader or an intellectual master per se to understand and make sense of his words. Jargons on the other hand convey very little meaning is what is being said and contain implicit content. Only people who are avid readers and have the ability to read in between the lines are able to comprehend the same. It is said that more emotional impact is created by shorter words and a greater audience can be targeted, however it is also true that smaller words are often imprecise. Therefore, the pros and cons of both the forms of languages are highlighted. Which type of language usage is to be incorporated in everyday speech is something that needs to be determined through the motive underlying speech. The nature of talk must determine the type of speech incorporated & its mannerisms.
