Question

The topic/concept is Cognitive learning.

Over the course of the semester, we have covered a wide variety of topics. One of the goals I have for students is to be able to apply what you have learned to your personal and/or professional life. Discuss at least one topic/concept you have learned and how you have been able to apply it to some aspect of your life. As with previous discussion topics, the response needs to be at least 250 words to earn full credit. This extra credit is worth 30 points. Explanation / Answer

From my entire semester, I have learned a great knowldege about Cognitive Learning. The method of how our mind thinks/reasons and then reacts is refered to as Cognitive learning. Cognitive learning has helped to break down the complex mental process of brain functioning simpler to understand.

Cognitivism has helped me in my professional life - as I am teacher, I was facing major challenges to teach my students the basic ideas of statistics but cognitive learning has helped me to teach my students that difficult subject (statistics) in a simpler form. I earlier had difficulty to make them understand the concept and higher order thinking skills. They lacked interest in the subject so I used cognitive learning to ease down the learning. Just to create interest, I started to start lesson with basic learning, which in this case consisted of multiplication, division and substraction, and activate prior knowledge by using a review quiz before starting a chapter, segmenting the important facts and statistics into digestable and comprehensible parts by using mnemonic device and also using graphic organizers to help structure and relate content for my students.
