Question

I have a project where I have to tell if a movie scene is feasable. I picked Iron Man and he is free falling and forming a chain of 13 peole. I estimated he was 30.49 m from the ocean before he thrusts up the chain then releases them into the water. I need to calculate if this is possible but I don't know how to treat it. The initial velocity I found to be 482.06 because this is the final velocity in the first half of the scene that is free fall. Are there still two problems left because he thrusts up in the opposite direction then they free fall again after he releases them?

Explanation / Answer

this is only possible if the force provided by the thrust is 13 times 3810.78 m/s^2

which is very high but as he is iron man may be he has some equipments... :D

and if he is successful then there is no problem because now the initial velocity is 0 and s is very less.. and hence there's no problem of hitting the ocean with high speed
