Question
PLEASE GIVE EXPLANATIONS FOR HOW THE EQUATION IS DERIVED, NOT JUST THE ANSWERS
PLEASE SHOW HOW THE EQUATIONS WERE DERIVED ALGEBRAICALLY
Four charges of equal magnitude Q = 35 nC are placed on the corners of a rectangle of sides D1 = 15 cm and D2 = 6 cm. The charges on the left side of the rectangle are positive while the charges on the right side of the rectangle are negative.
b) Write an equation for the net horizontal force acting on the charge located at the lower left corner of the rectangle in terms of the charges and the given distances. This is the answer, but why?? ->
d) Write an equation for the net vertical force acting on the charge located at the lower left corner of the rectangle in terms of the charges and the given distances. Assume up is positive. This is the answer, but why?? -->
g) Calculate the angle in degrees that the net force makes counterclockwise with respect to the positive horizontal direction (which is to the right).
PLEASE GIVE EXPLANATIONS
-QExplanation / Answer
part a)
horizontal force due to other
+Q charge will be zero because it is verticlaaly aabove of it
forces due to other two -ve charges are attractive
horizontal force due to lower right chareg=total force=F2=kQ2/D12
force due to upper right charge==F3=kQ2/(D12+D22)
horizontal componenet of this force=F3sin45=kQ2/(D12+D22)21/2
total horizontal force=Fx=kQ2/D12+kQ2/(D12+D22)21/2
part b)
similary verticle force Fy=kQ2/D22+kQ2/(D12+D22)21/2
