You must start with purely algebraic expressions, show every step of your logic and circle or underline your final answer(s). Skip no steps whatsoever!):
Extended problems for the test will be similar( same type) to problems listed below. Problems will be asking for the answer to the same general question with some details of the question being different.
A rectangular coil (6.4 cm X 8.5 cm) has 73 turns of a wire. The resistance of the loop is 2.1 ?. If the
B field is perpendicular to the plane of the coil, at what rate must the B field be changed so that a current of 0.28A is present in the coil?
Explanation / Answer
induced emf is defiend as the rate of change of magnetic flux
in mathematical form,
induced emf e = NAdB/dt or NABW
where A = area , here = L x B
N = no. of tunrs
W = angular frequency
dB/dt = rate of change of amgnetic flux
induced current i = e/R
Where R = resisatnce
so here as induced emf e = i/R
emf e = 0.28/2.1 = 0.133 Volts
now again induced emf e = NAdB/dt = 0.133
dB/dt = 0.133/(0.064* 0.085 * 73)
dB/dt = 0.3349 T/s ----<<<<Answer
