SHOW ALL WORK ON SCREENSHOT OF HANDWRITTEN WORK INCLUDE ALL UNITS AND STEPS

3. (5pts) Special coatings can be used on glasses to make them safety glasses for laser light prevent the light from penetrating your eyes. This is particular important for laser radiation intense enough to burn your eyes, at frequencies you cannot see. A standard laser in industry and research is the Nd: YAG laser with a 1064nm wavelength radiation. The index of refraction of the coating is 1.33, and the refractive index of the glass of your laser safety glasses is 1.55. What thickness should the coating on laser safety glasses be so as to be most effective to reflect the laser beam? (Only a laser beam that is reflected from your glasses will not transmit into your eye!) (5pts) Nonlinear materials can be used to change the wavelength of a laser. The frequency of the laser in question 1) is doubled using KDP (Potassium Dihydrogen Phoasphate) crystal. The wavelength is then measured using a grating with an optical grating. The second interference maximum of the laser is observed at an angle of 70degree. a) Draw the experiment clearly indicating the path difference resulting in the observed interference. b) How many lines does the grating have per mm?

Explanation / Answer

REST detailed answer i have sent to ur e-mail because i am not able to upload the answer here

a) loaction = 3cm to the right of first lens

b) size of first image = 1 cm heads down

c) image of image will be formed 2 cm right to the second lens

d) screen should be put 2 cm right of the second lens

e) size of final image = 1 cm heads up

f) magnification of projector = + (1/2 ) = + 0.5

g) if you want to increase the magnification of final image on screen then decrease the distance between first image & second lens

keeping the all parameter same & adjust the screen

suppose we want exact size of final image then we should have the distance between first image & second lens = 1.5 cm instead of 2 cm , keep all parameter same & accordingly put screen 3 cm right to the second lens
