Question
For each of the following phases of the action potential [A) Resting State; B) Rising Phase; C) The Peak; D) The Undershoot], can you please answer these questions? I am very confused about the answers to these questions specifically for C) The Peak, and D) The Undershoot, so could you please provide explanations for that? Thank you!
---Is the Voltage-gated Na activation gate closed?
---Is the Voltage-gated Na Inactivation gate open or closed?
---Is the Voltage-gated K gate opened or closed?
---Is the movement of K flowing inward, outward, or no movement?
---Is the movement of Na flowing inward, outward, or no movement?
Explanation / Answer
See first of all
1.resting phase
During this phase,Na and Ca channels closed, k channels open
2.rising phase
Rapid Na influx through open fast Na channels
3.peak
k channels open, k efflux through k channels.and Na channels closed.
4.undershoot phase
Ca influx through slow Ca channels, k efflux through k channels.
So during rising phase voltage gated Na channels opens quickly.and voltage gated K channels begins to open slowly.
