Q) To determine self-interested thinking, face-saving or group pressure from the given situations?
Note- There are no right or wrong answers in some situations, it depends as per your imagination. Yet, I'll try my best to analyse the situations as per my expertise.
Situation one : Mary thinks animals have the similar right as per of humans- The statement is incorrect in itself, reason being, According to natural human societal laws those are quite complex in nature and are interwoven in respect to society keeping in mind as even the intelligent animals fail to understand the complex thinking power of humans, therefore - animals have not got the rights or status as per humans. At least in the human world. However, Jenna asks Mary what makes her think that way, to which May replies with her love towards animals and they are being treated horribly all over the world and that makes her heartbreak. Clearly, there is self-emotion attached to this statement that displays her self-interested thinking towards the situation.
Answer: Self-interested thinking
Situation 2: This situation seems quite confusing due its incompleteness as - Jonathan is interested to compare his essay with Julio and reflect to be preserving his image in front of others or Betty, displaying face-saving but Betty reminds Jhonathan about the guidelines and benchmark yet Jonathan doesn't display to compare his work with others, situation doesn't portray that. Yet, to decide for an answer for this situation- It would be Face saving.
Answer: Face-Saving.
