Question
A coin is dropped from a hot-air balloon that is 290 m above the ground and rising at 7.5 m/s upward. For this problem use a coordinate system in which up is positive.
A. Find the maximum height reached for the coin in meters. (answer is -292.9)
B. Find its position 4.00 s after being released in m. (answer is 241.6)
C. Find its velocity 4.00 s after being released m/s. (answer is -31.7)
D. Find the time before it hits the ground in seconds.
I figured out A-C, but I cannot figure out part D. Help me please!
Explanation / Answer
time os descent is t = u/g = sqrt(2*g*h)/g = sqrt(2*h/g) = sqrt(2*292.9/9.81)= 59.7 S
