An automobile engine has weight W(vector), whose magnitude is W= 2580 N. This engine is being postioned above an engine compartment, as Figure 5.5 illustrates. To position the engine, a worker is uisng a rope. Use Newton's second law to find both the horizontal and vertical component forces in term of W(vector), the tension of T(vector) 1 in the supporting cable, and the tension T(vector)2 in the positioning rope. Solve these equations to find T(vector)1 and T(vector)2

NET FORCE ALONG X-AXIS is

T2*sin(80) = T1 sin(10)
T2 = T1*0.176


along Y-axis

T1*cos(10) = T2*cos(80) + W

T1*0.984 = 0.176*T1*0.173 + W

(0.984-0.0304)*T1 = W = 2580


T1 = 2580/(0.984-0.0304)

T1 = 2705.53 N

T2 = 0.176*T1 = 476.17 N
