Question

Show your work clearly to justify your answers for partial to full credit You get credit. You get credit for doing something right. You lose credit for not explaining answers If 3.0 Times 10^21 electrons pass through a 20-Ohm resistor in 10 min, what is the potential difference across the resistor? (e = 1.6 Times 10^-19 C.) Answer: _ A battery, manufactured to have an emf of 24.0 V, but the terminal voltage is only 22 V when the battery is connected across a 6.0 Ohm resistor. What is the internal resistance of the battery? Answer: _

Explanation / Answer

Current = Charge/time

Charge in 1 e = 1.6*10^-19 C
Total Charge = 3.0*10^21*1.6*10^-19 C
q = 480 C

Time = 10 min = 10*60 = 600s

I = 480/600
I = 0.8 Amp

We know,
V = I*R
V = 0.8*20
V = 16 Volt
Potential Difference across the resitor, V= 16 volt
