Explanation / Answer

(According to Chegg policy, only four subquestions will be answered. Please post the remaining in another question)

1. The three teams can be chosen in 6C3 = 20 ways.

They can finish first, second and third in 3! = 6 ways.

=> Total number of ways = 20 * 6 = 120.

(Another way to do this is 6P3).

2. The two seniors can be chosen out of 6 in 6C2 = 15 ways.

The three juniors can be chosen out of 8 in 8C3 = 56 ways.

Total number of commitees = 15 * 56 = 840.

3. The possible values are 1,2,3,4,5 and 6.

The probability of getting atleast 2 = 1 - probability of getting 1

= 1 - 1/6

= 5/6.

4. There are 15 records and she wants to play 6.

This can be done in 15P6 ways

= 15! / (15-6)!

= 15! / 9!

= 15*14*13*12*11*10

= 3603600 ways.

5. There are 15 records and she wants to play 6.

Since order does not matter can be done in 15C6 ways

= 15! / [(15-6)! 6!]

= 15! / [9! 6!]

= (15*14*13*12*11*10) / (6*5*4*3*2*1)

= 3603600 / 720

= 5005.
