Question

Can you help me address a gap in knowledge for my following research proposal in the body of knowledge?

Research question: How do Muslim women's internalized views of religion, science, modesty, and reproductive healthcare inform the decisions of their American born female children to mammograms for breast cancer?

Hypothesis: American born female children of a Muslim mother will be less likely to seek out mammogram screening for breast cancer.

Research Study:

My research topic will include longitudinal, qualitative, and quantitative study. Qualitative: I will examine Muslim women from single ethnic groups, and the religious influences of race, ethnicity related to immigrants. Quantitative: I plan on examining religion-related factors and breast cancer screening among ethnically and racially Muslim women. I was thinking about getting 100 Muslim women ages 25-30 and another 100 Muslim women ages 60-70 to participate in a survey from a local Mosque. On the survey, some of the questions that will be asked will be regarding their awareness of breast cancer and if they ever had a mammogram screening. If they answer yes, I will ask when the last time they had a mammogram screening and if they answer no I will ask why and how can we get more people to take advantage of this procedure.  I will ask questions to gain a sense of what they were taught by their mothers about screening The qualities and quantitative research that will be used will help to uncover Muslim women's culture beliefs getting a mammogram screening for breast cancer and how to increase participation within the Muslim community.

Can you help me address a gap in the body of knowledge? Thank you.

Explanation / Answer

From my point of view, the need for data collection would be from the women ages 25-30 as they are the female child brought up by their muslim mother aged 60-70. No need to collect the data from mothers as they give false informations regarding their education to their kids. Data will be reliable collecting from the children about their mother's teachings on mammogram screening and religious issues regarding the same.
