Question

#21a9ikates

please help me

(a) What current flows through R1, R2, and R3?

(b) What is the absolute value of the potential difference across R1, R2, and R3?

I1 =  A I2 =  A I3 =  A #21a9ikates please help me Three resistors R1 = 84.2 ?, R2 = 23.4 ?, R3 = 70.0 ?, and two batteries 1 = 40.0 V, and 2 = 355 V are connected as shown in the diagram below. (a) What current flows through R1, R2, and R3? I1 = A I2 = A I3 = A (b) What is the absolute value of the potential difference across R1, R2, and R3? |?VR1| = V |?VR2| = V |?VR3| = V

Explanation / Answer

Here ,

we will use KCL and KVL for finding the currents in the resistances

Using KCL

I1 + I2 - I3 = 0   ---(1)

Using KVL

40 - 84.2 I1 - 70 I3 = 0

84.2 I1 + 70 I3 = 40    ----(2)

again using KVL

355 - 23.4I2 - 70 I3 = 0

23.4 I2 + 70 I3 = 355   ----(3)

solving 1 , 2 , 3

I1 = -2.22 A

I2 = 5.47 A

I3 = 3.24 A

b)

Now , as using Ohm's law

V = IR

VR1 = 2.22 * 84.2

VRI = 186.9 V

VR2 = 5.47 * 23.4 = 128 V

VR3 = 3.24 * 70

VR3 = 226.8 V
