Question
Can someone who really know physics please help me answer these problems? I only have one attempt for each problem left because I posted these questions on chegg so many time and everyone has not given me the correct answer and this is my last try which is so frustrating. Please help.
1) The answers in the box I had submitted it wrong for heads up :/
2) The answer 2.974 is wrong that i submitted
Problem 12.11 Part A 7.0 mol of helium are in a 16 L cylinder. The pressure gauge on the cylinder reads 67 psi. What are (a) the temperature of the gas in °C and (b) the average kinetic energy of a helium atom? Express your answer using two significant figures. T- I-146.01 146.01 Submit My Answers Give Up Incorrect, One attempt remaining; Try Again Part B Express your answer using two significant figures. 2.6. 10-21 Submit My Answers Give UpExplanation / Answer
Here ,
number of moles , n = 7
volume of gas = 16 L
pressure , P = 67 psi = 4.56 atm
Now, using ideal gas equation
P*V = n*RT
16 * 4.56 = 7 * 0.0821 * T
T = 127 K
T = -146 degree C = -150 degree C
the temperature of the gas is 127 K
b)
Enegry stored = 1.5 * k*T
Enegry stored = 3/2 * 127 * 1.38 *10^-25
Enegry stored = 2.6 *10^-21 J
the kinetic energy of each He atom is 2.6 *10^-21 J
