a. Hypothesis: Diets high in fruits, vegetables and low fat dairy products can reduce the risk of hypertension (high blood pressure) in women.

Study: A group of 500 women were placed on a diet high in fruits and vegetables and low fat dairy products for six months. At the completion of the study, their blood pressures were measured.

b. Hypothesis: A high fiber diet reduces the risk of colon cancer in middle aged men.

Study: A researcher looked at the diets of 200,000 young men and then followed them for 20 years. He then uses this data to assess if the men who ate higher fiber diets were less likely to develop colon cancer.

Explanation / Answer

Both the hypothesis followed the same mistake due to which they are not valid to perfrom as in any science expermient there is necessary to put a negative control which work as comparison, with that negative control we comapre our data and come out to a conclusion here in both hypothesis researcher has not taken any women/man for comparision with whom they will comapre there data and will find out a solution.
