Question
A jumper leaves ice ground at an angle of 30o above the horizontal and at a speed 50m/s. How tar does he jump in the horizontal direction? (b) What is the maximum hegira Determine the magnitude and direction of his velocity and position after 2 s. Ball A is thrown upwards with initial speed of 100 m/s Bails released from rest fry of 4 m. At what time and distance do they pass each other? A particle starts from rest and accelerates as shown in figure 2 Determine (a) the p speed at t=6 s and t = 16 s and (b) the distance traveled in the first 16 s.Explanation / Answer
a) in vertical, he finally comes to gorund(same vertical position ))
so displacement in vertical direction = 0
initial vertical velocity, uy = 50sin30 = 25 m/s
Applying d = uy t + at^2/2
0 = 25t - 9.8t^2 /2
t = 2.26 sec
horizontal distance, d = 50cos30 * 2.26 = 97.8 m
b) maximum height will be when vertical velocity component will become zero.
vf^2 - vi^2 = 2 a h
0^2 - (50sin30)^2 = 2(-9.8)(H)
H = 31.9 m
c) vx = ux = 50cos30 = 43.3 m/s
vy = 25 - 9.8(2) = 5.4 m/s
magnitude = sqrt(vx^2 + vy^2) = 43.6 m/s
direction = tan^-1(vy/vx) =7.11 deg above
