Question
please help with both questions where circled. I know that for the third question my data was similar to that of the class however I am unsure whether each mitotic phase generally lady a certain period of time.
1S. 2) We made the assumption that each slice of tissue from the onion or the whitefish provides a random snapshot of the mitotic process. Explain if this is a safe assumption or not. What could be happening to make this assumption invalid? Are there any other biases that we should consider? 3) How do your data compare to that of the class as a whole? Would You reach the same conclusion about the relative length of each stage? -If not, why not?Explanation / Answer

a. Yes, it is indeed a safe assumption. As a slice of the tissue would possess innumerable cells depicting various stages of mitotic division.
b. This assumption could be invalid in a hypothetical state, wherein all the cells within the tissue is synchronized and all the cells are showing the same mitotic phase.
c. Biases that might alter the assumption would include the pre-treatment done (if any) to the tissues, method of extraction of these tissues.
Relative length of each stage is ascertained within a cellular milieu and it won’t change unless the cases considered in the biasness based facts is involved.
