Ask me anything 3/16/2016Explanation / Answer
Given, R1 =0.75 *102 , = 75 ohm
R2 = 2.9 K = 2900 ohm
and R3 = 4.2 K = 4200 ohm
In series combination,
R = R1 +R2 + R3 = 75 + 2900 + 4200 =7115 ohm…..equation 1
In kilo-om, R = 7.115 K
For parallel combination,
1/R = (1/R1) + (1/R2) + (1/R3)………..equation 2
First we calculate the equivalent resistance in R1 and R2 in parallel combination and then this will again parallel with R3
So,
(1/R1) + (1/R2) =(1/75) + (1/2900)
= 0.013 + 3.44 *10-4
= (130*10-4)+ (3.44 *10-4)
=133.44 *10-4……………………...equation 3
Now equation 2 becomes,
133.44 *10-4+ (1/R3) = 1/R
133.44 *10-4+ (1/4200) = 1/R
133.44 *10-4+ (2.38 *10-4) = 1/R
135.82 *10-4= 1/R
Therefore,
Equivalent resistance for the system in parallel combination is,
R = 73.63 ohm
R = 0.7363 K
