The field view diameter fo 40X lens is 0.45mm . The epithelial cell is 1/8th of the field view . So 0.45 /8 = 0.056 mm . mm can be expressed as 1/25th of an inch . Similarly micrometer can be said as 1/ 25000th of an inch. Thus in micrometers here it can be written as 56 micrometers.
