Question
A 1380-N uniform beam is attached to a vertical wall at one end and is supported by a cable at the other end. A 1960-N crate hangs from the far end of the beam. Using the data shown in the figure, find (a) the magnitude of the tension in the wire and the magnitudes of the (b) horizontal and (c) vertical components of the force that the wall exerts on the left end of the beam. I cannot figure parts b and c out. the answer to part a is 2330 N. Someone please help me, I've tried everything. I just need help finding part B and C, not A.
Explanation / Answer
in equilibrium
along horizantal
Fxnet = 0
Fh - T*cos50 = 0
Fh = T*cos50 = 2330*cos50 = 1498 N <<<-------------answer
along vertical
Fynet = 0
T*sin50 - w1 - W2 + Fv = 0
(2330*sin50)-1380-1960 + Fv = 0
Fv = 1555.1 N <<<-------------answer
