I NEED HELP TO FIND A RESEARCH QUESTION PLEASE READ BELLOW:

FVA 1: Research question

The broad research topic we are trying to address in the Forest Vegetation Analysis (FVA) project is: The forests we measure can be thought of as specific examples of a forest type common in our geographic area.

Description: Your task is to come up with a specific and unique research question that you will focus on for the remainder of the course. A few notes to keep in mind:

This question must be answerable using the data that we are collecting (Make sure that you take good notes on what you did in Lincoln Park so that you can come up with a testable question).

Your question must have both a dependent and independent variables.

Your study must be an observational study, not experimental.

Your study cannot involve animals because we don’t have the time to collect data on things that move.

Your question must be scientific and testable.

Think about measures such as: size, density, species identity, class of species, interactions, elevation, aspect (North/South), information from maps, proximity to roads/towns/other natural areas, historical data.

NOW, I POSTED THIS QUESTION: What is the name of the bigger tree found on the Lincoln Park? Please specify the characteristics of the tree and also the changes it has in winter and summer.

MY PROFESSOR RESPONDED: Your research question needs to pertain to the data will collect at south mountain and watching. We can refine this on Monday but do some research and start to form one based on the criteria identified.

Explanation / Answer

LINCOLN PARK park situated alongside of Lake Michigan on North side in Chicago, Illinois.

It is ned after the US president Abraham Lincoln.

It is cities largest park and stretches upto 11km.

This park have many Giant Palm trees.

Giant palms including a 15 m (50 ft) fiddle-leaf rubber tree planted in 1891.

Palm tree characteristics with some unique points are explained below :-
The Arecaceae are a botanical family of perennial trees, climbers, shrubs, and acaules commonly known as palm trees (owing to historical usage, the family is alternatively called Palmae). They are flowering plants, a family in the monocot orderArecales
Scientific classification :-
Kingdom: Plantae
Clade:Angiosperms
Clade:Monocots
Clade:Commelinids
Order: Arecales
Family: Arecaceae

1) Palms are among the best known and most extensively cultivated plant families. They have been important to humans throughout much of history. Many common products and foods are derived from palms, and palms are also widely used in landscaping, making them one of the most economically important plants. In many historical cultures, palms were symbols for such ideas as victory, peace, and fertility. For inhabitants of cooler climates today, palms symbolize the tropics and vacations.
2) palms have two methods of growth: solitary or clustered. The common representation is that of a solitary shoot ending in a crown of leaves. This monopodialcharacter may be exhibited by prostrate, trunkless, and trunk-forming members. Some common palms restricted to solitary growth include Washingtonia and Roystonea
3) Several palm genera have both solitary and clustering members. Palms which are usually solitary may grow in clusters and vice versa.
4) Palms have large, evergreen leaves that are either palmately ('fan-leaved') or pinnately ('feather-leaved') compound and spirally arranged at the top of the stem. The leaves have a tubular sheath at the base that usually splits open on one side at maturity.
5)The inflorescence is a spadix or spikesurrounded by one or more bracts or spathes that become woody at maturity. The flowers are generally small and white, radially symmetric, and can be either uni- or bisexual. The sepals and petals usually number three each, and may be distinct or joined at the base. The stamens generally number six, with filaments that may be separate, attached to each other, or attached to the pistil at the base. The fruit is usually a single-seeded drupe (sometimes berry-like)but some genera (e.g. Salacca) may contain two or more seeds in each fruit.
7) Like all monocots, palms do not have the ability to increase the width of a stem (secondary growth) via the same kind of vascular cambium found in non-monocot woody plants.
8) Not all palm trees are "trees," and not all plants called "palms" are truly .
9) Palm trees have two different types of leaves: palmate and pinnate. Palmate leaves, like hands, grow in a bunch at the end of a stem. Pinnate leaves are like feathers, growing all along either side of a stem.
10) Palm trees are important religious symbols. In the Bible, the people of Jerusalem greeted a triumphant Jesus just one week before his death and resurrection, a tradition now known and celebrated as Palm Sunday the week before Easter. Palms are mentioned dozens of times in both the Bible and the Quran. In Judaism, palms represent peace and plenty.

11) The tallest palm tree can grow up to 197 feet tall! The Quindio wax palm (seen above), Colombia's national tree, is the tallest-growing species of palm.

12) coco de mer palm tree has the largest seeds of any plant on Earth. The seeds can be as large as 20 inches in diameter and as heavy as 66 pounds!

13) Palm trees have a history with humans as old as the first societies. Archeological finds have shown that the date palm was commonly used in Mesopotamian society, for food and other purposes. Romans gave palm branches as a symbol of triumph to the triumphant champions of games and wars.

14) kallu," palm wine is a common alcoholic spirit in regions of Asia and Africa. It can be created from coconut palms, date palms, the Chilean wine palm, and other species.

Changes in winter and summer :-

Most palms are native to tropical and subtropical climates. Palms thrive in moist and hot climates but can be found in a variety of different habitats.
Their diversity is highest in wet, lowland forests

Palms are indigenous to all continents except Antarctica and are evergreen plants. ... About 2,500 species of palms exist, and a few of them are quite tolerant of winter cold. Depending on species and winter weather, palm leaves or fronds often die in the drier and cooler winter temperatures.
