1 is citical angle so,

by snell's law

sin(1) / sin(90) = 1 / n

sin(1) = 1 / n

cos(1) = sqrt(1 - sin(1)^2)

cos(1) = sqrt(1 - (1 / n)^2)

also,

sin(1) / sin(2) = n / 1

2 = pi/2 - 1

sin(1) / sin(pi/2 - 1) = n / 1

sin(90 - x) = cos(x) so,

sin(1) / cos(1) = n

sin(1) = n * cos(1)

sin(1) = n * sqrt(1 - (1 / n)^2)

sin(1) = sqrt(n^2 - 1)
