Explanation / Answer

Answer. The dotted line shows the disruptive selection.

In this the selection occurs on the other 2 sides of the average, thus 2 peaks are noticed and bimodal curve is seen.

For example, if there are 3 varieties of plants in a field as short plants, medium plants and long plants which get pollinated by different pollinators. If somehow, the pollinators that pollinate the medium-height plants vanishes, then the population of medium height plants will also become negligible with the passage of time. As a result, only 2 types of plants, short and long height plants will be selected. Thus, selection has not occurred in the mid line however, it has on the other 2 sides of the extremes. Thus, 2 populations will emerge in this case. Polymorphic populations are seen by disruptive selection.
