A. The expected ratio of a monohybrid cross is 3:1. We are getting a total number of 584 mice out of which 522 are normal and 62 long neck mice. According to the ratio, 1/4 should be long neck mice so 1/4 of 584 is 146. so theoretically 146 should be long neck mice but we are having 62 in the population, so 146-62= 84 long neck mice are dead. Out of 146 long neck mice 84 and dead which is around 57%.
B. The ratio of the progeny is approx 1:1:1:1 which suggest that the genotypes of the parents should be:
TtAa (tall and axial flower) X ttaa (dwarf terminal flower)
The gametes formed will be:
TA, tA, Ta, ta X ta
TtAa, ttAa, Ttaa, ttaa in a ratio of 1:1:1:1
If the genotype of the parents is TTAA X ttaa
the progeny will have all tall and axial flower plants which is not the case here.
