INS MYOD1 Label with the corresponding letter a. Point to where the 5' cap would be added once transcribed. b. Point to where the polyadenylation sequence would be added following cleavage. c. Point to the precise location of the start codon. d. Point to the precise location of the stop codon. e. Within intron 2, point to and label the position of the 5' splice site. f. Within intron 2, point to and label the position of the 3' splice site. g. Place a bracket around and label the 5' UTR. h. Place a bracket around and label the 3' UTR 14. Consider the gene prediction schematic for the human H19 gene. What is different about this schematic (in comparison to the genes above) and what is the significance of this difference (HINT: It might help to google the gene name)?Explanation / Answer
Human H19 gene gets transcribed from maternal allele but not expressed from paternal allele. H19 is a gene for long non coding RNA. It will inhibit cell proliferation and body weight. It plays a role in gene expression and in cancer cells. H19 has 3 SP1 binding sites but these will not have an activity in transcription process. It has binding sites for EBP family. Transcription from this gene will be under simultaneous control from both 3 and 5 prime ends.
