Question

Please help the following physics Qs. Thank you very much!

If a 8.0 kg mass is hung on the end of a spring, it What is the force constant of the spring (in N/m)? k is the spring constant or force constant measured in N/m, and AL is the change in the length of the spring or elastic body. A spring of force constant 45 N/m is used to pull a block along a level surface at constant speed. The spring is observed to stretch 12.0 cm while supplying tins force. How much force is applied? A certain string is loaded by hanging an unknown mass on it. What is the value of this unknown mass (in kg) if it causes the spring to stretch 24 cm and the spring constant (force constant) is 150 N/m? A 35 N force is used to stretch a rubber band which has a force constant (spring constant) of 450 N/m. What is the expansion of the spring in centimeters? During an experiment, a spring was stretched by applying a variety of forces until it broke, and its total length was recorded, as in the table below: Using this information and a graph, determine:

Explanation / Answer

1. F = kx = 45 N/m x 0.12m = 5.4 n

2. F= k x

F = 35 N and k = 450 N/m

so 35 = 450 * x

x= 0.0778 m Or 7.78 cm

3. Gravitational force of mass = force due to spring

mg = kx
8*9.81 = k * (0.78)

k = 100.62 N/m

4. again using f = mg = kx

m * 9.81 = 150 * (0.24)

m = 3.67 kg

5.

5. a)using F = kx

5 = k(0.03)

k = 166.67 N/m

this is same. for next values.

b) elastic limit is 30 N Or 18cm .

becuase after these F= kx no more holds.
