Can you explain problem 32? Thank you!

Ifthe reaction A Bis at equilibrium with l mM of A and 0.5 mMof Band you now add 5 mM of B and allow the system to come to equilibrium again, what will be the concentrations of A and B? 0.9 0 .5 A 1.33 mM. B 0.5 mM D, A-1.33 mM, B-0.67 mM E. A = 2 mM. B = 0.67 mM 33. Receptor-Ligand (R-L) and Enzyme-Substrate (E-S) binding are similar in several ways. hich of the following is not a similar aspect of R-L and E-S interactions? A. In both cases, binding is specific and depends on the 3-dimensional shape of the

Explanation / Answer

32. Answer will be B. A =2 mM, B = 1 mM

Because,

A1/B1 = A2/B2

where A1 and B1 is initial volume of A and B, and A2 and B2 is final volume of A and B

Now it is given that,

A1 = 1 mM

B1 = 0.5 mM

Final volume B2 = 0.5 +0.5 = 1mM

therefore by using formula

(A2)/1 = 1/0.5

0.5 (A2) = 1/1 = 1

A2 = 1/0.5 = 2

Therefore A will be 2 mM at the time of equilibrium when B is 1 mM
