Question

Are dinosaurs extinct?

Theropod dinosaurs are the bipedal ("two-footed") carnivores of Tyrannosaurus rex fame that many people imagine when they think of dinosaurssharp teeth, claws, long tails, and a taste for flesh. Did these dinosaurs go extinct?

Part A

The colored bars in the graph below represent the time range of a selection of theropod dinosaurs. (The Microraptor in the image above is hypothesized to belong to the Dromaeosauridae.) Which geologic eras and periods are represented? Draw vertical lines through the graph and label the time intervals.

Explanation / Answer

Figure 3 is the correct one.

triassic, jurassic and cretaceous

Why:
This painting shows the mesozoic stage that shows the periods where the dinosaurs prevailed. Also in the other paintings some periods do not follow the correct order of how they happened in the timeline or show stages such as the Paleogene that at this stage is already part of the Cenozoic where the dinosaurs were already extinct.

In the correct picture, the period of dinosaur life begins with Triassic, where you begin to see the appearance of the dinosaurs, then there is the Jurassic period where dinosaurs are developed and finally the Cretaceous which is where the dinosaurs reached their greatest size and it was in this period at the end when the dinosaurs became extinct.
The dinosaur of the Dromaeosauridae image of development in the period of the jurassic.
